The leather for this project came from a small batch of French rifle slings from WWII. The leather is chrome tanned which makes for a water resistant finish. Each Sling will vary slightly in color and texture as well as surface wear. Coming Soon! I will be introducing a 26mm Bronze DLD buckle to accommodate this strap as well.

Limited Edition Watch Straps

Every so often I happen upon a leather that is too good to pass up, but not enough of it to make a regular production piece. This page is dedicated to those leathers in the form of limited edition watch straps. Straps featured on this page will be custom built, hand stitched, and limited to editions of 50 or less. Each piece will come in a custom wooden case along with a number stamp on the inside of the strap. Simply complete the quote form below.

Dark Olive French Military

Limited Edition Strap with 26mm Bronze DLD Buckle $375

This particular leather comes from WWII French rifle slings. The leather is chrome tanned which has a water-resistant property. The surface has some texture and the leather is in remarkable condition after 60 plus years. Limited to 50 pieces.

Strap Details:

Strap Length

There are two lengths required, the tail end and the buckle end. Lengths are also measured in millimeters like this: 125/75mm.
NOTE: The buckle end measurement does NOT include the length of the buckle!

A typical OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) strap is 115/75. My leather is thicker than most OEM straps so if you like the stock length I suggest you order your strap in 125/75mm.

Below is a basic wrist chart to follow:

Wrist Circumference= Strap Lengths

6.0-6.5" 15-16.5cm = 120/75mm

6.6-6.9" 16.6-17.5cm = 125/75mm

7.0-7.5" 17.6-19cm = 130/80mm

7.6-7.9" 19.1-20cm = 135/85mm

8.0-8.5" 20.1-21.5cm = 140/90mm

8.6-9.0" 21.6-23cm = 145/95mm

If you want extra tail on your strap, add 15mm to the tail end and 5mm to the buckle end.

Strap Width

The distance between the lugs (where the strap is attached) is typically measured in millimeters and usually determines the width of the strap. I cut every strap one millimeter wider to account for wear between the lugs, it will be snug at first but fit nicely with use.

Buckles

David Lane Design Buckles. Solid Marine Grade 220 Bronze hand brushed and 2.5mm thick. Available in 26mm width only. These buckles are sewn-in and exclusive to David Lane Design!

David Lane Design Buckles. 316L hand brushed stainless steel and 2.5mm thick. Available in 24 & 26mm widths. These buckles are sewn-in and exclusive to David Lane Design!

GPF style buckles have a polished finish and come in 22, 24, and 26mm widths.

Pre-V style buckles are curved sewn-in buckles available in 22, 24, & 26mm widths in a PVD, Polished or Brushed finish

Stitching

Full Stitch Box Stitch End Stitch

Please click on the image for a detailed view Standard stitching options include: Full stitching, Box stitching and End stitching. Stitching can be done in red, yellow, olive, blue, white, light gray, dark gray, black, tan(un-waxed), golden tan, off white, brown, and green.

Custom Details

Custom stamping is 25$ per strap. Custom stitching and edge dyes are also available. If you can dream it up, I will do my best to make it for you. Please add any custom details to the Custom Details & Questions box.
